Heart of The Beast brings Brad Pitt and a combat dog to Malaysian cinemas

Brad Pitt says his strongest connection on Heart of The Beast was with the dog playing his military companion, according to Malay Mail. The film is now showing in Malaysia, with this site's listings placing it in 79 cinemas this week.

A working dog takes the lead

Malay Mail reports that four dogs portrayed Odin, although most of the performance came from Uber, a German shepherd found in New Zealand. Pitt told the newspaper that working with Uber was a deeply moving experience and that the dog sometimes reacted in ways that were not in the script.

According to Malay Mail, the film follows Special Forces officer James Belmont and Odin after an air crash leaves them stranded in the Alaskan wilderness.

Free Malaysia Today reports that Odin is a three-legged former combat dog and that Uber was a former search-and-rescue dog. The outlet says the story centres on Belmont and Odin’s shared history after their plane crashes into icy waters.

Free Malaysia Today also reports that the film is directed by David Ayer and stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe alongside Pitt.
